It's a system made by and for non-binary people to be able to describe their gender outside of the cisnormative "female/woman, male/man" binary alignement. It's a collection of words from space used to describe someone's gender, and I
love it ! The creators used space-related terms because space isn't gendered in itself, but we do associate certain ideas to some space objects : the moon is oftenly associated with feminity while the sun is associated with masculinity for example. Which makes two of the widest alignement from this system : lunarian and solarian. But what is amazing with this alignement is the sheer amount of labels and creativity and fluidity ! And that's why I love it ! There are a lot of combinations and possibilities in the Galactian Alignement that allows anyone to find one or multiple term(s) that suits them. I can spend hours reading each label's description, flag and intersection with other labels and it never tires me. I love this kind of creativity and exploration that is extremely vivid in queer spaces. The Galactian Alignement is an excellent example.
I know a lot of people don't like microlabels and this flourishing collection of labels and ideas. I get why they do, I guess. But if you're one of these people, just get my point : this cisheteronormative world is flat and dull and rigid. A system like this that allows people to explore and get creative is the total opposite of our current world. That's a tool to build a better future and explore ourselves. We need this kind of creativity and "too much" to counterbalance the dullness and limits of our cisheteronormative system. That's why I love it. I need to dream and get creative. It's an act of resistance.
